Trying Out Poetry

What makes a poem, a poem?

Can it be in each and every word?

Or is it instead in the sounds and the noise?

Perhaps it’s in the structure of the lines…

Or maybe instead, it’s in the delivery and the rhyme.

I’d like for it to be easy for me,

This writing of a poem and writing free.

It would be so nice for it to all just flow

From deep inside me and even from parts of me unknown.

But we all have a start, our first attempts we must make.

Like venturing out alone and singing songs again.

It’s always worth a try, no matter the results.

And a poem is always worth the deepest of our hearts.
