Ladybug Love

2013-10-07 12.30.23The Italians say they’re lucky

It’s a gift when they land on you

With elegance that’s fun and sporadic

They appear magically, alighting on me

Vibrant, bold red, distinct black dots

Just so delightful to look at

No wonder they bring good luck

They remind me to be silly

To think on pretty things

Their button-shaped bodies

Inspiring me to think creatively

They never stay long

They know they don’t really need to

Ladybug love never takes long

It can never be taken away

Bringing feelings that all will be fine

A gift of nature and life

Lite and beautiful

Just down-right lovely

As are so many things

Gratitude for Achievements!

200 Followers AchievedEven the smallest of achievements are worth being recognized and celebrated. When we practice gratitude for small achievements, which I believe play an essential role in “large” achievements, we’re extending the power of that accomplishment. Picture the ripple effect…that drop of water into a smooth, still body of liquid. Ripple after ripple is created and it extends further and further out. All it takes is just that one little drop.

I just got one of those nifty notifications from WordPress that my travel blog, Amalia Travel, has now gained 200 followers…so I wanna celebrate by giving you thanks! Continue reading

Making Myself at Home

I’m quoting here something that I just read this morning that wonderfully describes how I feel at home traveling and having a different sense of home than what I think our societies are sometimes more familiar with…what causes you to feel most at home?

Sometimes, we get so busy and involved creating a “home” for ourselves that we create a structure that’s too safe, limiting, and confined. We forget about our real home, the planet earth. It’s good to sleep indoors. It’s nice to make ourselves comfortable in our home. But don’t let your cozy nest become a locked, confining box.

Stretch your arms. Push the lid off the box. Get out into the world. Walk around. Move about. See the hills, the lakes, the forests, the mountain peaks, the valleys, the rivers.

See how big your world can be. See how connected everything is. See how connected you are, too – to all that is. Make yourself comfortable, wherever you are. Make yourself a home and be at home in the world.

Gratitude and Traveling

Overflow with gratefulness today…

Amalia Travel

One of my favorite aspects of traveling is meeting people…new people, familiar people, people different from me, people similar to me…traveling takes us into other worlds, not just physically and geographically, but in ways unseen. With this in mind, it is not a surprise to me that traveling has been one of the greatest teachers of gratitude in my life. When I open myself to the world and others, to what is different from me and new from what I have ever known, I step into the opportunity to be grateful in ways that I would never know if I did not travel. It is not that gratitude cannot be achieved without traveling or by those who do not care to travel…not at all. I am simply speaking from myself, the one I know best, and I know that for me traveling is part of who I am and therefore…

Angels and Chocolate

I was visited by an angel this week! That’s right…and the angel brought me chocolate. Well, this angel turned out to give me much more than chocolate. But we enjoyed rich milk chocolate together nonetheless. This is how the story goes. Continue reading

Thank You Followers!

I just wanna give a great big shout of THANKS to all of you who follow my blog! There is nothing like getting that WordPress notification email telling me another person in the world has chosen to follow my writings. It means a lot. What I really love and am touched by, is how much we all have in common just through the pure, privileged joy of reading. Think about it…there are still countless numbers of people in this world who are growing up without the skills to read!

With that in mind, I’m glad that we’re all enjoying the community of reading and writing. Thanks for being a part of it and for following my blog(s). I love the comments and interaction I receive from you when you share a post I’ve written, show that you like it, leave a comment, or all the above. I learn a lot from your interaction and my blogging is that much more enhanced and growing because of you! Really…my blog would not be where it is now, without YOU!

So THANK YOU! I look forward to continuing on this blogging journey together.

Did you know? I have two blogs! Enjoy them both: Amalia Vida and Amalia Travel
