It’s that time again when WordPress releases those magical little fairies to dazzle up reports for us on our blogs in the year prior. These are not just reports to me, but stories on the unseen joys of blogging. Below is the short story (aka report) for my personal blog, Amalia Vida. The numbers and stats are exciting because they represent the people, readers and fellow-bloggers, who brought it all about.
I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for all of you that make my blog possible and growing. Thank you for reading and following, liking and commenting, for sharing and just simply taking the time to check it out and enjoy. I greatly appreciate you and hope you continue on with me into this new, exciting year, of 2014.
Happy New Year of creative blogging fun!
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
A New York City subway train holds 1,200 people. This blog was viewed about 4,200 times in 2013. If it were a NYC subway train, it would take about 4 trips to carry that many people.
Can you remember the days when we didn’t have Facebook? I’m in my early thirties, so I certainly do…yet I realize, as the years go by, there’s upcoming generations that don’t know a time without the powerful online social network. Do you like Facebook? It’s use is not limited to just personal profiles anymore. For some time now, it’s a powerful tool for business as well. What’s your interaction with FB? Personal? Business? Maybe it’s both… Continue reading →
Sitting in my kitchen tonight, I was contemplating rather or not I should pull out my laptop and write a blog post. The feelings I had about it were a mixture of feeling sorry for myself and discouraged. When I sat with it and looked at it intentionally, I came to see that it was mainly laziness and apathy. Then a welcoming, saving thought came into my awareness…the interview I had seen the night before about the first Saudi woman, Haifaa Al Mansour, to make a full-length feature film. Wadjda is also the first to be made in Saudi Arabia.Images of the movie’s trailer and the young Saudi girl it features, came alive in my mind. Continue reading →
Change is good. It keeps things fresh…so the time has come to change the tagline on my blog. This blog (Amalia Vida), is my personal blog out of two blogs that I have. The other one is my travel blog called Amalia Travel. Since I started Amalia Vida two years ago, the tagline has been Life is for Experiencing. I still like that to this day and it’s meaning remains true for me. It always will, really. Yet I wanted to expand on it…to capture a bit more…more of what I’ve learned, what I feel now…all those wonderful things that we grow in on our journey through this life.
Here is where I’m going with my new tagline. I like to talk in stories, so please keep reading. It’s like getting a surprise at the end. Who doesn’t like that? Continue reading →
Even the smallest of achievements are worth being recognized and celebrated. When we practice gratitude for small achievements, which I believe play an essential role in “large” achievements, we’re extending the power of that accomplishment. Picture the ripple effect…that drop of water into a smooth, still body of liquid. Ripple after ripple is created and it extends further and further out. All it takes is just that one little drop.
Growing up and even as recently as the past few years, I have received the advice from people to focus on one thing at a time regarding talents and career. To do one thing very well, is better than trying to do several things not so well. This is even advice that I sometimes give to my clients in my social media coaching work. I recommend to them that they keep their plan simple when they are first starting and until they are managing it consistently, before expanding and growing into more social media platforms. Yet…and yes, there is a very big “but” here…what I am getting at in this little essay is that there more and more of us who are developing and enjoying multiple careers because we want to use and grow more than one of our talents and passions. I just wanna give a great big shout of THANKS to all of you who follow my blog! There is nothing like getting that WordPress notification email telling me another person in the world has chosen to follow my writings. It means a lot. What I really love and am touched by, is how much we all have in common just through the pure, privileged joy of reading. Think about it…there are still countless numbers of people in this world who are growing up without the skills to read!
With that in mind, I’m glad that we’re all enjoying the community of reading and writing. Thanks for being a part of it and for following my blog(s). I love the comments and interaction I receive from you when you share a post I’ve written, show that you like it, leave a comment, or all the above. I learn a lot from your interaction and my blogging is that much more enhanced and growing because of you! Really…my blog would not be where it is now, without YOU!
So THANK YOU! I look forward to continuing on this blogging journey together.
